Lucreccia Quintanilla has put together General Feelings Sound System. This small but wholesome and esteemed system doesn’t prescribe to a single sound and has been used to amplify many community events in and around Naarm, Melbourne since 2014 as the first woman-led soundsystem in Australia. These events include the Contemporary Pacific Art Festival at the Footscray Community Arts Centre, Listen Collective’s feminist music events, Barrio//Baryo a Philipino and Salvadoran collaboration, Yarra Youth Services community Block party as the closing of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival the Liquid Architecture’s FemX series and the Mi Gente event at the MPavilion as well as Nuestro Planeta Party also at the MPavilillion.
The speakers themselves were sourced from various places to create an analogue composite that pays attention to the mid, high and low frequencies. The set up is a big nod and respect to Jamaican soundsystem music culture and above all wants to maintain the ethos of love for community and dance.
If you can think of a place and time and reason please contact us! We would be very happy to share our speakers with you.
